Mid-Michigan Wrestling Association (MMWA)  – The Mid-Michigan Wrestling Association is the best youth wrestling organization in the state for folkstyle (or sometimes called collegiate style). Many current and former state champions got their start in MMWA. Most of the clubs originate in and around Genesee and Saginaw counties with many teams also from the thumb region. The league has a nice selection of open and novice tournaments with very tough competition. State Champions in this league are eligible for the Michigan USA Wrestling Triple Crown award (state championships in folkstyle, freestyle, and Greco-Roman). It is our primary league association.

Michigan Youth Wrestling Association (MYWAY) – Michigan Youth Wrestling Associations is another youth folkstyle wrestling organization that is more statewide in nature with a strong presence in Metro Detroit and central and western Michigan. It is fast becoming a national recognized league and has already formed some ties with other states’ youth league through NUWAY (National United Wrestling Associations for Youth). We are also a member of MYWAY’s Northeast Region.

Michigan USA Wrestling – Michigan USA Wrestling is the state’s chapter of USA Wrestling. It is the only organization in the state that regularly runs freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling tournaments which are the Olympic styles. Freestyle is also the style that is used for women’s collegiate wrestling. MUSAW is open to all wrestlers ages 5 and up. (Yes, adults are allowed to wrestle.) MUSAW’s season runs from March to May. All of our wrestlers registered with MMWA are also members of MUSAW.

Trackwrestling LogoTrackwrestling – Trackwrestling is a website that is frequently used for running tournaments.  All MYWAY tournaments in our area are run with Trackwrestling which allows people to see tournament results in real-time.  The MHSAA State High School Championships are also run via Trackwrestling.  Trackwrestling is also valuable in tracking team statistics which we are currently piloting for the 2013-2014 season.

Border Wars Wrestling – Border Wars is an organization created by the same people behind the advent of MYWAY that runs many summer tournaments in Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, and many more states. Their season culminates in a national championship usually held in Kalamazoo in November. Many of the top wrestlers in Michigan keep their skills sharp by wrestling in the many tournaments put on throughout the summer.

Michigan High School Athletic Association – The state sanctioning body for all of Michigan’s high school athletics. This is an excellent source for high school team and individual district and regionals information.

Flowrestling – Flowrestling is a good site for wrestling videos and news consisting of matches and interviews. A lot of it is free content. There is a premium section called Technique Wave available for a fee that has many great wrestlers and coaches showing various techniques.
